♡ AFTERCARE ♡
Congratulations on your new tattoo!
Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure smooth healing of your new tattoo:
♡ Wear your HypaFix bandage provided at least 24 hours. Ideally wear the HypaFix bandage anywhere from 3-5 days. If there is a leak or tear, remove immediately.
♡ Wash your hands and carefully remove bandage and safely dispose of it in the garbage.
♡ Gently wash your tattoo using mild unscented cleanser (Spectro Gel, Cetaphil Simple Cleanse) rinse tattoo in cold water.
♡ Pat dry with CLEAN towel or single use paper towel (DO NOT RUB)
♡ After removal of bandage, if your tattoo looks and feels dry, apply a thin layer of unscented lotion (Aveeno, Lubriderm, Simple Shield) *be mindful not to over moisturize your tattoo and ALWAYS wash your hands before and after applying lotion*
♡ DO NOT USE: Isopropyl Alcohol, Oil products, Polysporin, A+D ointment, Vaseline or peroxide.
♡ DO NOT PICK AT YOUR TATTOO! Scabbing is normal with a tattoo. Picking at your tattoo can cause damage to the tattoo and skin. It could cause bleeding and result in a patchy/poorly healed tattoo.
♡ Repeat cleansing and lotion routine 2-4 times a day for 2 weeks. Avoid using sunless tanners, lotions, scrubs, body washes, shampoos and cleansers that contain fragrance.
♡ Avoid direct exposure to the sun or the use of tanning beds during the healing period. (Once healed be sure to wear a minimum SPF 20 sunscreen at all times - especially on tattooed area. Sun damage causes tattoos to look faded and dull)
♡ Do not swim or submerge tattooed area for at least 2 weeks. No baths, pools hot tubs or lakes.
♡ Make sure all bedding/clothing that is in direct contact with your tattoo is cleaned and pet dander free. We all love our pets and love snuggling them but please be mindful that pet dander carries bacteria and can lead to infection of your tattoo.
♡ Ensure the clothing you wear is loose-fitting and not pressed against your tattoo too firmly. Try not to sleep with fabric pressed against your tattoo if you have moisturized before bed as it can cause the fabric to stick to your tattoo and affect the healing.
♡ MOST IMPORTANT - If you have any questions please call the studio or contact your artist directly. Do not rely on information provided by anyone other than a professional tattoo artist. If any excessive redness, swelling or signs of infection or allergic reactions occur: SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.
REMEMBER: Your tattoo is an open wound. Failure to follow these instructions will extend healing time and prevent your tattoo from looking it's best. Touch-ups needed due to negligence will be at client's expense. The aftercare of your tattoo is important and will greatly determine the way your tattoo will look once fully healed.
