Congratulations on your new tattoo!
keep your hypafix on for at least 24 hours
ideal wear time is 3–5 days if it remains sealed.
if we used a different bandage for your tattoo, skip here
remove early if:
♡ it leaks outside the bandage
♡ it peels and any of the tattooed skin is exposed
♡ it tears
♡ moisture gets under the seal
♡ it becomes super irritated / itchy especially around the perimeter of the bandage. this could mean a sensitivity / allergy to the bandage adhesive

when removing your bandage:
♡ the easiest way to remove the bandage is at the end of a shower once all other soaps have been washed off and hands are clean
♡ gently remove the bandage by pulling off from a corner - down and away from the body (just like removing a command strip off a wall)
♡ remove the bandage slowly and let the warm water from the shower do the work in lifting up any adhesive or dried fluids
♡ wash the tattooed area with unscented soap
♡ pat dry with a clean paper towel

moisturizing:
♡ once dry, apply a very thin layer of unscented lotion (my favs: aveeno, lubriderm, cetaphil)
♡ more lotion doesn't mean better healing - if your tattoo looks shiny/slimy, you used too much

daily routine:
for about 2 weeks
♡ wash 2–3x daily with unscented soap (morning, night, and middle of the day if needed)
♡ my fav unscented soaps - spectro gel, cetaphil,
♡ moisturize lightly after washing once dry
if your tattoo looks shiny/slimy, you used too much
listen to your skin - over washing/over moisturizing can irritate healing too.

avoid these while healing:
for at least 2 weeks (ideally 4)
♡ swimming / baths / hot tubs / lakes
♡ direct sun / tanning
♡ heavy friction / tight clothing
♡ picking / scratching / peeling
♡ pet hair / dirty bedding
♡ fragranced skincare on the area
please do not use:
for at least 2 weeks (ideally 4)
♡ polysporin
♡ vaseline / petroleum jelly
♡ a+d ointment
♡ peroxide
♡ rubbing alcohol
♡ oils / heavy ointments
♡ scented products
***unless instructed by a doctor***
totally normal healing things:
don't panic if your tattoo...
♡ gets flaky/peely like a sunburn
♡ develops an "ink sac" underneath the hypafix
♡ feels itchy
♡ looks a little cloudy/milky while healing
♡ sheds tiny ink flakes in the first week
that's all normal!
seek medical help if you experience:
♡ spreading redness after the first few days
♡ worsening swelling
♡ excessive heat / pain
♡ pus / unusual discharge
♡ rash / hives / allergic reaction
REMEMBER: your tattoo is an open wound. failure to follow these instructions will extend healing time and prevent your tattoo from looking it's best. touch-ups needed due to negligence will be at client's expense. the aftercare of your tattoo is important and will greatly determine the way your tattoo will look once fully healed.
